We were delighted when we were invited to hold a Celebration House Network Evening on board the beautiful luxury mega yacht, the Nautilus, which is moored at the V&A Waterfront.
I have often seen this magnificent yacht cruising off the Atlantic Seaboard and wandered what it was like inside and so I was thrilled when they offered to be our hosts for the evening.
After a few days of rain we heaved a sigh of relief when the evening of the meeting turned out to be a beautiful wind and rain free one. The yacht, berthed next to Hildebrand Restaurant, was easy to find and a short hop from the floating jetty was all that was needed to board the vessel. Once on board we were welcomed with an attractive looking fruit cocktail. Many ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ were then heard all round as our guests stepped from the deck into the beautifully decorated and most attractively laid-out lounge and dining area. We were all in awe of the attention to detail given to the furnishings. This together with the unique setting helped create a wonderful relaxed ambiance. An interesting array of tasty canapes started flowing seemingly non-stop from the yacht’s galley as well as glasses of a delicious chilled chenin from the bar area. Over the many years we’ve been holding them, our Network Evenings have grown significantly in popularity and on this particular evening we had around fifty service providers attending. Space on board was not a problem and we all fitted into the entertainment area with ease.
Despite being situated at the busy Waterfront, the acoustics on board the boat were excellent and I required no amplification for my talk. The main focus of my talk centered on the reasons we had decided to change direction at Celebration House and also about our exciting plans to expand our online presence. Our website www.pamblackweddings.com is increasing daily in popularity and the number of page hits has increased by over 175% in the last month alone. Service providers now have no excuse for forgetting our telephone number as we now have an 0861PAMBLACK number where we provide free assistance to anyone planning a wedding.
I have often heard people ask: ‘Life Coaching – what is it?’, ‘How can it help me?’ I was pleased therefore when life coach Amanda Foster agreed to explain to us at our meeting what Life Coaching was all about. Amanda’s interesting overview of the subject certainly provided us with food for thought.
Following Amanda’s talk, Martina Barth provided a most interesting slide presentation about all the services that Aquila Private Game Reserve and the Nautilus offer the public. Aquila Private Game Reserve is owned by Searl Derman who also owns the Nautilus. Martina was most knowledgeable about her subject and impressed us with how passionate she was about these venues, both of which are suitable as wedding venues. The Nautilus would make an ideal setting for a small wedding of no more than 50 guests and Aquila being only two hours from Cape Town, is suitable for those wanting a safari styled wedding venue that doesn’t require lots of travelling.
After the meeting, service providers were invited to wander around the yacht and we were able to view the stunning cabins. There was a definite reluctance to leave this beautiful vessel in such a pretty setting after what had been a most enjoyable evening spent in the company of friends. I had loved the gentle rhythmical swaying of the boat but alas terra firma called and we eventually headed home.
Our grateful thanks again to the Nautilus for being such superb hosts and for making us all feel so welcome aboard.
